We started Beacon because we saw too many business owners drowning in spreadsheets and struggling to understand their numbers. We knew there had to be a better way — accounting that actually helps you grow, not just stay compliant.
Our Story
Ben Chisholm grew up as one of eight brothers in the Upstate of South Carolina. His father and several of his brothers built successful businesses and real estate investments, and Ben had a front-row seat to both the rewards and the challenges that come with owning something of your own. That upbringing gave him something most accountants don't have: a genuine understanding of what's at stake for a business owner.
After building his foundation in public accounting as an auditor, Ben kept getting the itch to start his own firm and step out to help small businesses all around Greenville, SC and the country. So, in 2023 he made the leap and started Beacon Accounting Solutions.
His brother Tom joined soon after, bringing deep construction and manufacturing accounting expertise and the team has continued to grow ever since. Their goal is to build a practice where your CPA knows your name, understands your goals, and picks up the phone when you call.

Founder
Ben is a CPA licensed in South Carolina, with both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Accounting from Clemson University. His foundation in public accounting, combined with his experience as an auditor, brings a disciplined, detail-oriented approach to financial management. Raised in a family of entrepreneurs and real estate investors, Ben developed an early appreciation for the complexities of building and preserving wealth. This background gives him a unique ability to understand not just the numbers, but the bigger picture behind every business. As the founder of Beacon Accounting Solutions, Ben provides a more elevated approach to bookkeeping and accounting—one built on precision, clarity, and trust. He works closely with business owners to ensure their financials are not only accurate, but structured in a way that supports smarter decisions and long-term growth.
Thomas Chisholm, CPA
Partner
Tom brings over a decade of finance and accounting experience spanning homebuilding, manufacturing, and construction. He started his career at D.R. Horton, rising from account support to assistant controller over four years, then spent three-plus years at Parkway Products as a senior accountant and business unit controller — managing GAAP compliance, cost analysis, and financial reporting for complex manufacturing operations. Most recently, he served as construction controller at Pinestone Construction, overseeing month-end close, financial statements, budgeting, and multi-entity reporting. Tom joined his brother at Beacon to build the kind of firm they both wished existed: one that combines corporate-level financial rigor with genuine small-business understanding.
Anna Hinterleiter, CPA
CPA
Anna is a CPA licensed in North Carolina with a Bachelor's in International Business and Accounting from the University of South Carolina and a Master's in Accounting from the University of Florida. She launched her career at a Big 4 firm, building expertise across multiple industries before moving to a Charlotte-based CPA practice where she independently managed the books for over 30 small and mid-sized businesses — real estate, construction, healthcare, manufacturing — handling everything from month-end close to advisory for companies ranging from single-member LLCs to $25M corporations. Anna brings Big 4 rigor and deep small-business know-how to Beacon's clients, ensuring their financials are accurate, meaningful, and built for growth.
